CREATIVE_The Making of StreamAble.ca

AS PUBLISHED ON LEARNOGRAPHY BLOG - June 30, 2017

StreamAble, a recent client project developed by Learnography, is a digital learning site devoted to raising awareness about Ontario’s Accessible Employment Standard, and showcasing sectors that have made big strides in creating inclusive workplaces. Here’s an inside look at the design team’s project approach from some of the integrated team members who brought this project to life and provided a standout learning experience.

Learning Strategy
Sheriff Ahmed | Instructional Designer

The process of designing a learning strategy always revolves around our main principle: meeting learning objectives through a memorable and engaging learning experience. By engaging the audience through punchy, animated clips (see below) and complementary resources, we created an experience that caters to a multitude of learners and offers continuous learning by acting as an ongoing reference point. It’s the perfect bite-sized learning approach!

Martin Whelan | Creative Designer

The creative team used an approach that focused on what problem we were trying to solve for our client. This approach is universally known as “design thinking,” as designing is a strategic and iterative process. We needed to create a resource that was content-rich, fully accessible, easy to navigate, and shareable. Our team front-loaded the project with comprehensive creative strategy sessions that helped us map out the project production plan and creative direction.

Case studies can be wordy so we decided on a visual approach, which included a hub of animated videos as the ideal content delivery format. We wanted to approach design from a minimalist perspective, focusing on clear visual information and impactful design choices to let the case studies shine and to provide an optimized learning experience.

From here we moved to branding, sketching layouts and wireframes for the website and storyboarding each of the animations on paper before moving to hi-fi digital prototypes. We quickly explored all possibilities, and remained agile as we integrated the content into visual architecture and digital assets.

Building learning experiences is not just about look and feel, it is about how it works and the function/architecture of content delivery. We like to push the boundaries as far as we can on the creative side which allows us to innovate and iterate for clients, helping them to surpass their project objectives and ultimately increase learner engagement.

Client Experience: The Importance of Empowering your Clients
Gabriel Dionne | Client Lead

As leaders in creating and designing learning experiences, it is our responsibility to share our knowledge and empower our clients throughout the project life-cycle. We have to build strong and impactful relationships with our clients so that, at the end of the day, we deliver exceptional products through collaboration and iteration. This design process allowed for our client to interact with the team and the product development at every stage in production. From the storyboards to the final cut of the videos, we guided and encouraged our clients to share feedback, which resulted in a show-stopping product and a happy client—which is always our top priority.
