TECH_Introducing Learnography’s Innovation Lab

AS PUBLISHED ON LEARNOGRAPHY BLOG - February 5, 2018

2017 was a year to be proud of with great client collaborations and quite a few exciting awards under our belt. But we always strive to have our finger on the pulse and our vision set to the future in the learning space. With that in mind, 2018 started off with a bang for Learnography with a New Year’s intention to challenge ourselves and push further—with a focus on innovation.

And so began what we are calling our Innovation Lab.

What is the Innovation Lab?

The Innovation Lab is a collective of Learnographers spending time researching, building, testing, trying, and partnering on initiatives that do not currently live in our approach or service offerings.

This could be anything from conducting research and exploring certain areas of interest such as AI (artificial intelligence), or it could mean building components and testing them (smart data sets), developing partnerships & knowledge, or testing a product or service that is close to market-ready. The Innovation Lab will also look at evolving process approaches and methodologies to continue our strategic objective of creating meaningful and impactful learning experiences.

Framework

We are taking inspiration from companies that use the 80:20 model and putting our own spin on it. Google revealed that their policy of allowing employees to take time out of their core jobs to be creative and experimental has led to some of the company’s most successful products. We see our Innovation Lab as a space for free thinking that will drive forward the type of learning experiences we can create for our clients in the future.

One very important aspect of the Innovation Lab framework is a continuous feedback loop. We want to ensure knowledge is shared, as information is power. The feedback loop ensures meaningful dialogue with stakeholders and the general collective so that what is being worked on can be moved forward and, ultimately, impact our client projects by incorporating Innovation Lab initiatives into products and services that enhance learning experiences and learning content.

Goals & Objectives 2018

Here is a teaser of our 2018 goals:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Smart Data Sets
  • Material Design for Learning
  • Learning Systems
  • VR/AR
  • Conversational Interfaces

Why Innovation Matters

Leaders in innovation are comfortable with uncertainty and have an open mind; they are receptive to ideas from very different disciplines. They have organized innovation into a disciplined process that is replicable. At Learnography, we believe innovation is part of our social purpose and we believe it matters.

We look forward to sharing more Innovation Lab insights as the pilot rolls out. Next time you see us at conferences or learning events, come talk to us about the Innovation Lab!
